FAQ's

What makes ZipCast different than all the other fly line cleaners and lubricants?

Nearly all other fly line treatments are based upon the same silicone formulation. Silicone has certain disadvantages when used as a fly line treatment - it's reasonably slick at first, but as it breaks down it becomes sticky and gummy, actually picking up more dirt and debris than it sheds. ZipCast is based on a totally different, proprietary chemistry - and this isn't just some marketing buzzword. ZipCast is truly different and you'll find it slicker than any other fly line treatment you've ever owned. And unlike the others, it never becomes sticky or gummy. It simple vanishes after awhile, at which time you re-treat your line and enjoy the original benefits all over again.

My newer fly lines say that they don't need any additional lubricants.

Most fly line manufacturers now claim that there is no need to lube or treat their lines. Nevertheless, they all perform better and last longer if you treat them on a regular basis with ZipCast. No fly line manufacturer has access to the chemistry inherent in ZipCast. And as good as most of the modern day lines are, all of them will perform better when treated with ZipCast.

How hard is it to treat my lines with ZipCast?

Few things are easier and ZipCast is by far the easiest fly line treatment to apply. All you need to do is wet a pad or cloth, pinch it around the line with a thumb and forefinger and pass the line through it once or twice. Very dirty lines may benefit from an additional passes, but once your line has been cleaned, only one or two passes will be needed in the future.

How long does ZipCast last?

ZipCast is designed to evaporate after a day or so's use; so there is nothing left on your line to attract dirt. We recommend you use it at least every other outting. Or as many do, everytime you go fishing. It only takes a small amount and it's easy to do, so why cheat yourself out of the greatly enhanced casting qualities that a ZipCast treated line offers?

What do I clean my line with?
ZipCast cleans, lubes and protects all in one step. It really is that good and that easy.

Will ZipCast make my sinking line float?

No ZipCast won't make sinking lines float, but it will make them cast/shoot better and will protect them from aging as quickly. It'll clean the line too and a clean sinking line actually sinks faster than a dirty one!

I have some very old and badly worn fly lines. Will ZipCast make them like new?

We've received some pretty miraculous testimonials from folks who have used ZipCast to treat very old, cracked, worn fly lines. Many tell us that ZipCast brought their lines back from the dead and they've been able to get several more seasons out of them. But we don't claim that ZipCast will perform miracles. ZipCast is one heck of a product, but there are some situations where you really just need to buy a new fly line.

ZipCast seems to be a little more expensive than other fly line treatments I've seen.

On the surface it may seem more expensive, but when you consider that a little goes a long way and that it's so easy to use, it actually ends up being less expensive per application than most others. And... it works so much better than any other fly line treatment that it's a bargain compared.

How long will it take to receive ZipCast once I place my order?

We typically process and ship within 2 days of sale.

Testimonials

"I used to think all fly line dressings were pretty much the same. Then I tried Zipcast. The stuff is fantastic! Other than taking a casting lesson, I know of no other way to immediately add 10 feet to your best cast. Zipcast is the real deal!"

R. L. McGinnis, North Carolina

"Got back from the Gaspe' last week and I am happy to report that Zip Cast was the best line dressing I have ever used.  Many of my group used it as well and were very satisfied............ As salmon fishing goes we had to re-dress the lines daily for optimal performance.  It added 10 feet to my cast but more importantly I noticed my line did not foul when shooting long casts. In this end please send me 5 more bottles as others in the group asked me to "GET MORE"

"I've been using ZipCast for two years now, and continue to be amazed at its effectiveness. I'd treated my second-season Cortland Peach with Zip-Cast after the last outing, and really noticed the results, especially how the first 20-30 feet ...... just flies out through the guides. I swear it's better than new! Just can't laud this stuff enough (and I've no financial incentive.) Best $12 I've ever spent on this sport! ZipCast represents my best single investment in fly-fishing..."

Treated my line last night just before getting on the water. These guys were rising in the middle of the river a looooonnnnng way out. I won't say that the only reason I reached them was because of the treatment but it definately helped. The other really big advantage to it that I've noticed is how much better the line mends after coating.............All in all I am very happy with the product. I give it two
